Do I need to install a complicated strike release to automate my door? All manufacturers except Private-Door requires the installation of a strike release. Strike releases require major alteration to the door frame and trim that landlords may object to. The "Door Release", exclusive to Private-Door, eliminates the need to install a complicated and involved door release.
To automate an exterior door do I have to remove the weather stripping first. Some manufacturers require the weather stripping to be removed from the door before installing their operator. The Private-Door "System" and "Duo" will open and close an exterior door without removing the weather-stripping.
If I want to return the door operator can I, even if I haven't installed it? Some manufacturers do not permit you to return the door operator after the unit is purchased. Private-Door will permit you to return the unit according to the published return policy.
The landlord won't permit me to drill holes into the face of the door to install a door opener. Most manufactures require you to drill unsightly holes in the face of the door. Private-Door mounts to the edge of the door. With Private-Door Assistant, Executive and Solo there are no unsightly holes in the face of the door when you remove the unit.

Operation Questions

Answers
Do I need to push one button on the remote to open my door and a different button to close my door? Some manufacturers require you to push one button to open and a different button to close. This can be confusing to the user. Private-Door only requires one button to open and close the door. If the door is closed Private-Door will open the door. If the door is any position but open, Private-Door will close the door.
If I accidentally push the open button when the door is already open, will the door open more and hit the wall? Some manufacture's door operators don't recognize that they are in the open position. If the user pushes the wrong button when the door is open the operator will open the door again, driving the door into the wall. There is potential for damage to the wall and the operator. Private-Door recognizes the door is open and when you push the button the door will close..
Can family members open and close the door without using a transmitter?

To open and close the door manually after some manufacturers door operators are installed you are forcing the door operator to reverse gear. Reverse gear is the same as pushing a car when it is park. This will damage the operators transmission. This adds resistance to the door movement for the user and one manufacturer states that all users must have a transmitter. Private-Door has the Free-Float System that permits users to open and close the door manually without any damage to the operators transmission nor increase resistance to the user.
